The Deluge: A group exhibition curated by Catherine Taft

The Deluge is a group exhibition bringing together new and recent works by the 2023 graduating class of ArtCenter’s Graduate Art department. Organized by Catherine Taft, deputy director and curator at LAXART and an alumnus of the College, the exhibition is hosted by The Box Gallery. The show features painting, sculpture, video and performance. It reflects the technical experimentation and conceptual play of eleven emerging artists. These artists share a decidedly twenty-first-century sensibility while approaching subjects as distinctive as political punditry, (meta)modernity, virtual and real bodies in space, petro-capitalist futures and ecological contamination, to name only a few. Deluge-like, these direct and confident works overflow with meaning.

As part of the exhibition, The Box Gallery will host an afternoon of performances on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 3 p.m. The event will feature students from Graduate Art faculty member Ei Arakawa’s spring Performance Art class in addition to works by graduating artists.
