JANUARY 28, 2012
Greystone Estate | Beverly Hills, CA

LA><ART is thrilled to announce that we are partnering with the Getty Foundation for the Pacific Standard Time Performance and Public Art Festival and producing the Ball of Artists, which is the festival’s concluding event. This exceptional performance project is scheduled for January 28, 2012, and will feature 25 site-specific installations by leading contemporary artists at the 1926 Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills.
The Ball of Artists is part of a larger initiative by the Getty, Pacific Standard Time: Art in L.A., 1945-1980. Pacific Standard Time will bring together more than sixty cultural institutions throughout Southern California to tell the story of the rise of the Los Angeles art scene and how it became a new force in the art world. Initiated by the Getty Foundation, this collaboration, the largest ever undertaken by cultural institutions in the region, will continue through April 2012. Together with the Getty Research Institute,LA><ART is coproducing the Pacific Standard Time Performance and Public Art Festival slated for January 19-30, 2012.
As all of the cultural institutions in L.A. will be focusing on the period 1945-1980 in the region’s cultural history, the closing event of the festival—The Ball of Artists—will focus on new interventions by contemporary artists, turning attentions back to the city’s present cultural dynamics. We anticipate 750 attendees for the Ball, including artists, press, patrons, collectors, tastemakers, and arts enthusiasts, as well as LA><ART and Pacific Standard Time VIPs. Several semi-permanent installations will remain onsite after event for public viewing.
